История возникновения этого феерического события, как и основная масса праздничных торжеств, неразрывно связана с буддизмом. Исторические религиозные источники, из глубины веков, донесли до наших дней историю, которая произошла до священного просветления Будды, когда он еще был простым человеком с титулом князя, носил имя Вессандорн и только-только вернулся на родину после продолжительного изгнания. Его встреча с земляками, сопровождалась неподдельной радостью с их стороны, и в честь этого события был устроен шумный феерический праздник. Оглушительные звуки торжества разбудили духов, которые в свою очередь не смогли удержаться от воссоединения с людьми.
